My Alma Matter visit
Happened to visit the KITS Warangal on my recent trip - not a planned event. One of those things that serendipitously occur...
My friend Karun and I decided to meet for lunch at the Brindavan Dhaba to relive a few memories of our regular adda during the college days.
Although it does not have the charm of those days, it became a Bar & Restaurant, going back in the individual brick-walled huts kind of gave a bit of the flavor of the days of the yore...
After this, encouraged in spirit, we headed to the campus about a few miles from the Dhaba-- so we went.
The road that leads from the highway to the entrance of the college has transformed totally since we were in the college.
There are all kinds of buildings, stores, hostels, function halls almost all through that connecting road.
Once inside the gate, there is obviously a concrete road now, which was filled with gravel after every monsoon that flooded it away during our time in college.
Not just the roads, some buildings had totally changed their outer face and some new buildings added inside the campus. Above in the video, we could see one of the blocks that used to have a stair case outside is now totally changed. I have had some fond memories of this block quite personal to me.
Loads of memories across the various nooks and corners of the road that loops around the most buildings in the campus. Below is a video that covered some of the old shed class rooms where whenever there was a rain, snakes or frogs used to be present in the classroom before everybody else got in.
Apparently what used to be a dead end- now has some hostel buildings there. They look good.
The day we went was raining- and it kind of reminded me of many days during college when days like these were a big motivation to go to the campus and inspired me to write some of my most wonderful verses along with some strong catalysts in the mix.
Next stop we parked the car along the good old Mechanical Block - and went for a stroll inside. The block inside itself changed quite a bit.
Although we could not meet any faculty, we were able to stroll through some memory lanes - the hallway of our first year classrooms and particularly my B section classroom door.
Then onto the Mechanical Dept office, the boards depicting my good friend G V Pradeep Kumar , roll number 99336, on the Wall of Fame and some classrooms where one of our dearest Prof. Chinaya Sastry sir used to painfully draw Production Engineering machine diagrams in each classroom and shift us from one class to another.
